- Measure the footprint of your litter box: length × width of the box base (not including the hood or overhang).
- Choose a mat at least as large as that footprint. For better litter capture, pick a mat that extends 3–6 in beyond the box on the front and sides.
- If you use a hooded box, measure the base (the part that sits on the floor). If you have multiple boxes close together, consider the 60x90 size for full coverage.
Place a tape measure or newspaper under the box to check how much mat you need in front and on the sides. If you prefer minimal coverage, match the box footprint closely; for maximum protection, allow the extra 3–6 in buffer.
